Vogue of Nusantara: A Project Fashion Show

Hi there lovelies,

Back on January 9th, 2015, two of my friends showcased their designs in a sophisticated fashion show. Their designs were captivating, and the audiences can't get their eyes off the bewitching models. As the title says "Vogue of Nusantara", Caca incorporate the traditional Indonesian fabrics such as Batik, Songket, Kain Tenun in her modern designs. On the other hand, Deandra modernised the traditional Balinese, Padang, and Kalimantan's attire (Baju Adat).

Fortunately, I had the privilege to walk for Deandra. She entrusted me to walk proudly wearing one of her beautiful designs. In my previous blog post, I showed you what she did with the traditional Songket Padang. The backstage preparations was hectic I must say, we were rushing with all the makeup and hair, we had around 5 hours to prepare. However, we had to rush because all the models were told about a major blocking change just earlier during that day.

As I have said, their designs incorporate so many Indonesian traditional fabric. In my opinion, they managed to introduce fabrics that aren't too familiar yet in a very settled way.

Caca and Deandra are aspiring designers, they also happen to be my schoolmates. They have been attending the same school as I do since middle school. We also take the same art class this year, fashion. All three of us and a lot of our other fashion classmates are currently working on a clothing line. I will keep you posted on that.

I did an interview with them both and I'm going to get there in my future posts. Expect to write read an inspiring biography, from the two so-called indecisive adolescence who turns out to be amazingly talented.

Sadly, some Indonesians take the Indonesian Baju Adat as a tacky, cheap-looking fabric put together. They see the ones who proudly put on their sunting, or weds with dodotan are ignoring the change, that those who proudly wear Baju Adat refuse to modernise along with the developing country. But even though sequin gowns, floral cocktail dresses, suits and ties seem to be very flattering and elegant. Batik is a stubborn compass always pointing us towards home.*

"Batik" patterns are very versatile, it can be worn both casual and formal attire. Batik can also make everyone look more elegant." - Caca Norman

Until next time lovelies, cheers!

A Brief Introduction

Hi there lovelies,

First of all, my name is Audrey Diandra, with Avestina as my middle name. My mother introduced me to the world on August 6, 1999. She said I was a big chubby baby, my weight was 4 kg making me the heaviest baby on that day. Dark was the night at 1 am when I was born, but my family were wide awake, they have been waiting for another birth ever since my mother's youngest cousin was born.

Here is a picture of me walking for my Fiorenza Deandra's fashion project: Vogue of Nusantara.

Here is a close up picture of her design.
My childhood days were spent well around my family, everyone basically took turns raising me. I stayed with my big family throughout toddlerhood, until my mother decided that it was time for me, my father, and herself to move out of my grandmother's house and live in an apartment to start-off. Even though we technically had our own house connected to my grandmother's. When I have just passed kindergarten, my family again decided to move into a penthouse. The reason why my parents did not want a house was because we wanted to live in a bigger space yet still be able to feel the comfort and security of living in an apartment.

I am now currently in the middle of my sophomore year in high school. My interests is a concoction of social studies, the arts and sciences. I like to study psychology, my school project concerns the subject. I love to talk about the law, as well as people. My favourite subject in school has always been sciences, writing over-complicated chemical formulas and trying to cram the human body system right before a unit test.

Towards the arts, I have been dancing since I was only two years young. It was when my mother decided my legs would go to waste if I she did not enrol me to my first ballet class. Ballet was my first introduction to the arts, I was fascinated by how graceful the dances were, and how alluring the costumes they wore were. I remembered crying in my mother's arms because the setting was too intimidating for a child that I was. As I grow older, I explored the world of fashion, and continued to dance. I somehow managed to get in to gymnastics, ice skating, and horse riding. But riding is a whole other story, and we will get to that later in my future posts. In 8th grade my injuries had gone so bad, there were  countless bruises and scratches, too much bones broken. So my mother decided that enough was enough, and I thank her because I knew it was for my own good, I needed time to heal and the injuries were destroying my body, it kept me from doing things.

Talking about the blog. It is going to be filled with my daily thoughts, fashion, art, photography, events, well mostly my daily thoughts. I plan to share everything I can, and everything that makes me happy. I hope to share the happiness with you lovely readers, do enjoy my arbitrary posts.

Thank you for the time you have given to sit down and read my blog posts.

Until next time, cheers!
